THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS' NICOLE SCHERZINGER To Guest On SLASH's New Solo Album
October 13, 2009Nicole Scherzinger, the lead singer of R&B girl group THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS, has told Ace Showbiz that she has recorded a guest appearance on VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash's upcoming solo album. "I just did a song with Slash for his album, and I just did a duet with Alice Cooper," she said.
Nicole performed with Slash in Las Vegas on Friday, October 2 at a special concert, billed "Slash & Friends", which celebrated the 20th anniversary of Las Vegas hotel, casino and white tiger playground the Mirage. At the gig, they delivered one of the DOLLS' hit singles, "When I Grow Up" (see video below).
Slash's new solo studio album is called "Slash & Friends" and is slated for release next year. The guitarist has recorded around 20 songs for the effort, most of which was tracked with former NINE INCH NAILS drummer Josh Freese and ex-JANE'S ADDICTION bassist Chris Chaney. Other confirmed guest singers so far include Ozzy Osbourne, AVENGED SEVENFOLD's M. Shadows and Chris Cornell (SOUNDGARDEN, AUDIOSLAVE). The CD was produced by Eric Valentine (GOOD CHARLOTTE, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) and features additional appearances by ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea and former NIRVANA drummer and current FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl.
Slash left GUNS N' ROSES in the mid-'90s, forming SLASH'S SNAKEPIT before later assembling VELVET REVOLVER with several other ex-members of GUNS N' ROSES and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland (who was dismissed in April 2008).
